Endorsements
"Many accounts of the fourty years of conflict in Afghanistan attempt to understand movements there purely as a byproduct of the machinations of larger geopolitical forces in the world - removing the agency of Afghans in determining their own fate. Ibrahim Moiz provides a forensic and necessary history of the rise, fall and resurgence of local movements that have always sought a future for Afghanistan outside the interests of others."
"Scholarship on the early years of the Taliban movement is in part a work of collation and triangulation. Ibrahim Moiz has done a great service in bringing together a variety of sources to reexamine the Taliban government, their rise and their structures."
